Waylo helps learner drivers and their families build broader real-world driving experience. This policy explains the personal information we collect, why we use it and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
- Account information such as your name, email address, mobile number and account settings.
- Learner information you provide, including learner name, country or region, licence-related information and driving profile information.
- Location and route information while a learner drive is active. If you allow background location, Waylo may continue recording that active drive while the app is in the background or the phone is locked.
- Driving-experience information derived from recorded drives, such as roads, traffic, conditions and driving situations encountered.
- Subscription and purchase-validation information needed to confirm App Store entitlements. Waylo does not receive your full payment-card details from Apple.
- Referral or instructor information where you choose to use those features.
How we use information
We use this information to operate Waylo, record learner drives, build the learner's experience profile, provide recommendations, manage accounts and subscriptions, support users, protect the service and improve the product.
Location information
Waylo uses precise location while a learner drive is in progress so it can record the route and identify relevant driving experience. Background location is used only to allow an active drive to continue recording when Waylo is not in the foreground. You can change location permissions in your device settings.
Service providers
We use service providers to help operate Waylo, including cloud database and authentication services, mapping and routing services, Apple services for subscriptions, and communications providers. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to Waylo.
Retention and account deletion
We retain information for as long as your account is active or as reasonably needed to provide Waylo and meet legal obligations. You can initiate permanent account deletion from Profile → Your account → Delete account in the Waylo app. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription, which must be managed through your Apple Account.
Young people and families
Waylo is designed for learner-driver households and may contain information about young learner drivers. Parents and guardians should supervise account setup and use where appropriate. Waylo is not intended to replace professional driving instruction or official licensing requirements.
Your UK privacy rights
Where UK data protection law applies, you may have rights in relation to your personal information, including rights to access, correct or delete information, restrict or object to certain processing, and request a portable copy of information in some circumstances. You can contact us to exercise these rights. You may also have the right to raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Your choices
You can update account information in Waylo, change device permissions in iOS settings, manage subscriptions through Apple, and request help with your personal information by contacting us.
